Beau-père (1981) Ariel Besse was only 15 when she made this film and performed the nude scenes. It was her first role. Her parents sued the distributors for the poster, which shows her breasts, as it was exhibited on billboards around France without their permission. They lost the case. In the case of Miss Besse, her parents have sued the ''Beau Pere'' distributors and producers for a poster showing her sitting, barebreasted, on Patrick Dewaere's knee. The actress's mother said that the poster was put up without her permission, and that its context - shown on billboards all over France - made a use of Miss Besse that was exploitative; in contrast to what she said was the delicacy and sensitivity with which the film itself treated her. Gehrayee (1980) Padmini Kolhapure had courted a controversy when her film Gehrayee was released. A film on exorcism that revolved around a young girl possessed by a spirit, there was a nude backless shot that featured Padmini with a tantric played by Amrish Puri. Director Aruna Raje (one half of the erstwhile Aruna-Vikas team that made Gehrayee) remembers that they first got an okay from her parents since Padmini was still a minor. Aruna-Vikas then explained the scene in explicit detail to her before she came on board. “I put a long orangish shawl on her that completely covered her front. We thought that even if some part of it was seen, it would pass off as a reflection of the fire in front of her. “Luckily, Padmini had long hair which covered much of her bare back and only just before the shoot, I pulled down her panty.
